fiera magazine, 2014 – 2017
In December 2014, Katie Treggiden launched Fiera Magazine, having raised more than £16,000 on Kickstarter against a target of £14,000. 'Fiera is an independent biannual magazine discovering new talent at the world's design fairs. New designers still believe in the impossible – a crucial trait if design is going to help solve the problems, large and small, that we face today. Fiera exists to make sure their ideas reach a wider audience.' Working with Jeremy Leslie and Rebecca Harkness, she published four issues over two years, seeing Fiera nominated for MagPile Best New Magazine and shortlisted for Stack Magazines' Launch of the Year and Best Use of Illustration. "This is a textbook example of how to launch and build an engaging, reader-friendly and visually-striking magazine,” said Robert Newman, while Creative Review's Rachael Steven said; “Fiera provides a carefully curated guide to some of the year’s best designs, as well as their makers and making, and is the perfect mix of visual inspiration, analysis and reaction.” The magazine was closed in 2017, when Katie secured a place on the Master’s in History of Design at the University of Oxford.
