editorial writing

Katie has been writing about craft and design for almost a decade, having launched confessions of a design geek in 2010. It was nominated for ‘Best Interior Blog in Great Britain’ within five weeks – an award it went onto win, launching her writing career. Alongside writing for titles such as Viewpoint, Monocle, The Guardian, Elle Decoration, Crafts Magazine and Design Milk, she launched Fiera in 2014, an independent magazine that she published and edited for three years, seeing it shortlisted for two awards. Katie has written four books: Interviews, Makers of East London, Urban Potters and Weavers and written the forewords to Residents: Inside the Iconic Barbican Estate and The Value of Making. Her background as a blogger, combined with an MSt in History of Design (University of Oxford) gives her an informed and yet accessible tone of voice. She can be relied upon to carry out in-depth research, bring a fresh perspective – and submit copy on time and to word count.

‘Katie, this made the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end. It is a brilliant, well thought-through and concise piece of writing.’ – Siôn Parkinson, Dundee Design Festival
